Mr. Chairman Sir! You are the naijahotjobber of the year!!! Just toss a coin buddy cos this wonderland for you which for many remains a dream (pardon my humour). Well Chevron FE i's cool and Shell is not bad too.
No think am twice, Chevron is better in all ways.
Less politics, better pay, more of international trainings, no cutting cost unlike shell, which is now their slogan, etc. Guy grab Chevron with both hands.
Goodluck.
I knew you guys are going to be in some confusion at this time. From the initial offers, Chevron is more attractive but let's look at some things here. A guy has 1st degree electrical and MSc Petroleum. Chevron gives facilities Engr but Shell gives Petroleum or Well Engineer, out of passion, Shell is better in that case. My point is that it depends on one's passion and what you wanna be, but if you have something like pipeline or logistics in Shell, never compare it with Chevron FE (better by far) or you're gonna regret. Again, do you want to be shuttling Hague or San Ramon (me, I prefer the US thingy, lol!). I am not very familiar with Shell training & dev. options for trainees but I know that Chevron is a bit slow in their graduate development (the 5 yr horizon thing, and all that), in fact you are not a trainee in CNL, you are just a graduate hire and responsibilities start. Ultimately, it DEPENDS on the positions the two are offering you (as an engineer in E & P company, anything reservoir, well/drilling/subsurface, production, subsea, or projects/HSE is by far better than some other ones you may know). The pay is not a big deal (both are good coys), hence, choice shouldn't be solely dependent on it.

U go fear EdgarG's explanation nahhh. Choi!!!
@Jethro: my broda, d problem u r having is dat of "where to park your private jet"...it's simply TOO MUCH MONEY..lol But on a serious note, I don't know so much about d E&P coys yet, I only know dat d starting pay for freshers in Chevron is higher dan dat of Shell. Congrats on ur "problem" bro.
Either by earning salary or by mode of training and development..All i will say is...Seek help from the Cleric,Either your Alfa or Pastor.
Why not shell vs chevron vs presidential sit vs halliburton
abeg can someone point me to that thread that salaries of IOC engineers where being discussed? Tnx
this is a wow offer! a complete xmas package! Congrats to Jet, I remember you got a offer from first bank, now you are moving to the oil sector. u have given me hope.
Chevron pays u better! Both in terms of financial pay and exposure. Shell's slogan is abt cost reduction now. Shell is presently selling most of it's assets in Nigeria. The future of Shell in Nigeria is uncertain and all trainings are localised. Go for Chevron all d way, don't think twice!
Chevron is Facilities Engineer. while Shell is Production Engineer. they look the same to me
