Responsibilities

  • As a Chef de Partie, you work under the direction of the Sous Chef to prepare food in accordance with InterContinental Hotels and resorts policies and procedures. You will assist in the smooth running of the kitchen operations and maintain very high standard hygiene practices. You will follow brand standard food specifications with a high level of performance, presentation, service delivery and ensure minimum food wastage in the kitchen.You will prepare, cook and serve Continental and/or Nigerian Dishes including appetizers, soups, sauces and dressings.
  • Supervise the work of Demi de partie chefs and Commis chefs.
  • Participates in menu planning in consultation with the Executive Chef/ Sous chef
  • Preparation, presentation, decoration and menu dishes appropriate to the hotel menu, location and guest mix
  • Ensure that outstanding culinary technical skills are maintained
  • Assist with organizing special events and special food promotions
  • Maintain comprehensive product knowledge including ingredients, equipment, suppliers, markets, and current trends and make recommendations for appropriate adjustments to kitchen operations
  • Maintain a hygienic kitchen.

Requirements

  • Hands on Expetise in Continental and/or Nigerian Cuisine
  • Good understanding of the Hotel Industry standards, policies and procedures
  • Experience in high-end city operation with multi unit FandB and large Conference and Event
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Eager to learn and progress, responsible with the willingness to take ownership
  • Creative and open minded
  • Good understanding of the Nigerian/African business and operation environments and markets
  • Service minded and ability to involve and support operations
  • Business savvy and good people skills
