    Course Title: Introduction to Well Control

    Course Code: 6033 Duration: 3 days

    1st Batch: 21st – 23rd June 2010. 2nd Batch: 28th – 30th June 2010.

    Course Overview: Introductory training designed to give potential well control certification candidates an awareness of well control theory, practices and equipment in order to prepare them for testing.

    Course Content:
    • Primary well control
    • Basic calculations
    • Normal and abnormal formation pressures
    • Causes of kicks
    • Hydrostatic exercises
    • Pressure loss due to improper hole fill
    • System pressure losses
    • Equivalent circulating densities
    • Leak-off tests
    • Equivalent mud weights
    • Maximum mud weights

    Target Audience: This course is designed for Personnel involved in drilling/well control operations, Graduate Engineers/Scientists who may be attending well control instruction and assessment for the first time.

    An attendance certificate will be issued on satisfactory completion of the training.

    Course Title: Rotary Drilling IWCF Well Control Program

    Course Code: 6025 Duration: 5 days

    1st Batch: 14th – 18th June 2010 2nd Batch: 21st – 25th June 2010

    Course Description: This program comprises a Practical Assessment Exercises and Written Test papers on Equipment and Principles and Procedures for Drillers and Drilling Supervisors based on the IWCF Certification Standards.
    Pre-requisites: None, at employers’ discretion, however the trainee must be familiar with the certification syllabus and the type of simulation to be used in the assessment exercise.

    Practical Content: Trainees are required to demonstrate practical knowledge of respective tasks during a well control exercise measured against a set of performance criteria, using an electronic simulator. During the exercise, trainees will be assessed on their ability to:

    The Driller:
    • Set up for drilling operations
    • Communicate as appropriate with the Supervisor
    • Recognize a drilling break and positive kick
    • Perform the shut-in within the shortest possible time in accordance with a selected
    Procedure
    • Bring the pump up to kill speed whilst maintaining constant bottom hole pressure

    The Supervisor:
    • Give all appropriate instructions to the Driller at the commencement of the exercise and
    Check that all these have been implemented
    • Collect all appropriate data and complete a ‘useable’ kill sheet
    • Kill the well using the appropriate procedure (Wait & Weight or Driller’ Method)
    • Operate the remote choke and make adjustments in accordance with the simulator time
    Delay to maintain constant bottom hole pressure

    Target Audience: Drillers and Drilling Supervisors.

    Cost Per Participant: $1700 (One Thousand Seven hundred USD) or the Naira equivalent as at the time of payment

    Course Title: Confined Space [Entry] Course Code: 6016 Duration: 2 days

    1st Batch: 21st – 22nd June 2010 2nd Batch: 28th – 29th June 2010

    Course Description: This course is designed to prepare new and seasoned employees to safely enter and work in permit-required confined spaces, as defined by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146

    Target Audience: This course is designed for Managers, Supervisors, Engineers and Operators who will supervise entry to confined spaces. It covers every employee who is required to work in permitted spaces.

    Course Title: IADC HSE Rig Pass

    Course Code: 6031 Duration: 5 days
    1st Batch: 14th – 18th June 2010 2nd Batch: 21st – 25th June 2010

    Course Description:
    IADC HSE Rig Pass is designed to provide new employees with a basic orientation of rig operations (land based rig and offshore platform or vessel) and safe work practices to improve safety performance & assist in satisfying OSHA regulations as well as industry best practices. Graduates will be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of general oil & gas safety practices acceptable to the industry.

    Course Objective: Upon completion of this training the participant should be familiar with general safety procedures, hazard recognition, transportation rules and regulations, and the rig environment.

    Target Audience: New Employees, Graduates, Scientists and all those who want to work in the oil & gas industry.

    Cost Per Participant: N105, 000 (One Hundred and Five thousand Naira) Only.

    Course Title: Welding Safety Course Code: 6017 Duration: 2 days
    1st Batch: 16th - 17th June 2010. 2nd Batch: 23rd – 24th June 2010.

    Course description: This program is designed to help employees understand how to weld safely. Whether an employee is working with the hazardous gases of an "oxyacetylene" unit, the high voltage of "stick welding" or the combination of gases and electricity that powers "MIG' and "TIG" combination... flying sparks, toxic fumes, electricity shock and high temperature are just some of the things that can make welding a dangerous proposition.

    Course Objective: Upon completion of the program, participants should: understand why inspecting welding equipment before starting operations is vital; know how to guard against sparks and prevent fires when welding; know what substances can be hazardous when they are been welded and how mechanical ventilation devices can help control toxic fumes and understand the how relevant welding PPE can prevent injuries during welding operations.

    Course Title: Mobile Crane Operator Course Code: 6001 Duration: 3 days
    1st Batch: 16th – 18th June 2010. 2nd Batch: 23rd – 24th June 2010
    Course Description: This course is structured to increase crane operators' knowledge, skill and proficiency level through classroom and hands-on training. The training program points out to participants that over 90% of crane-related accidents are caused by human errors and that they are the key to preventing these incidents.

    Course Objective: Upon completion of the course, the participants should be able: to perform daily preoperational inspection; perform pre-use, monthly inspections and documentation; understand the safe lifting triangle; define the titles “Crane Operator” and “Rigger”; interpret load rating charts; determine load weights; use basic rigging skills; use a load angle indicator; recognize correct crane signals and know the characteristics, operational mode, and Operational components of the types of cranes in use.

    Course Title: Competent Scaffold Erectors Course Code: 6032 Duration: 3 days
    1st Batch: 17th – 18th June 2010 2nd Batch: 29th – 30th June 2010.

    Course Description: This course is structured to help students to develop the skills and knowledge to safely erect, maintain and dismantle modular scaffolding.

    • Safe work Practices
    • Definitions that apply to scaffolds
