Job Description

  • Line management for team including appraisal, compensation planning, training, administrative control, skills profiling and succession management. Motivate, develop and evaluate assigned personnel and to advise on salary plans and other employee benefit programs. Working with the HR Manager to assist in the interview and selection of staff. Capacity and capability planning.
  • Setting and communicating overall project strategy, to ensure compliance with customer requirements, maximisation of project margins, scope growth and most effective use of engineering resources. Evaluate current and future workload and proactively work to optimise resource assignment.
  • Were appropriate, engage with Engineering Excellence Centres to ensure maximum utilisation of remote resource. Execute technical process with EEC to ensure all work is packaged and executed accurately. Provide review / feedback to EEC to develop the interface and maximise efficiency. Assist Delivery Director in achieving the fiscal objectives of the total operation.
  • Technically and commercially lead the teams. Coordinate and lead the Service function including Service Level Agreements, break-fix and upgrade work.
  • Support to Senior Management in the development and introduction of new or revised practices, tools or policies. Full engagement and utilisation of Company engineering tools and initiatives.
  • Responsible for supporting the company graduate recruitment program and liaising closely with HR to identify potential candidates during the process. Tasked with managing the graduates during their training programme period and assigning suitable mentors. Ensure that appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Review related industry engineering estimates to assist the General Manager in assessing “best in class” practice and procedure.
  • Attend monthly Project Reviews for allocated projects and ensure all standard review techniques and tools are used. Attend bi-weekly engineering meetings and report appropriately.
  • Ensure all aspects of the engineering lifecycle are delivered, including;
  • Ensure that the correct project procedures are followed and that QA requirements are fully satisfied. Ensure that Functional Safety Management is deployed on any safety related system in accordance with Company processes / procedures and IEC 61511 requirements.
  • Provide support functions as follows: Prepare engineering estimates for customer quotations, Coordinate engineering and project management support to sales staff, including pre-order discussions with prospective clients and engineering estimates, Supervise technical support to Services, including support to Field Service and Customer Training, Arrange training for engineering and project management functions, Provide evaluation of vendor equipment, Assist when necessary in the development or upgrading of internal department procedures
  • To be aware of the development of existing and new Invensys hardware, software products and engineering support products.
  • To comply with Health and Safety guidelines and work in accordance with Company/Department Quality procedures.
  • Undertake any other reasonable task as required. Deputise for General Manager when requested.
  • Work with unions / NAPIMS and community heads in the execution of the business.

Requirements

  • HND or equivalent level in Electronic (Control Engineering). Good command of English language. Thorough knowledge of Company products. Driving license.
  • Degree in Electronic/Control Engineering. Formal commercial and business training. Detailed product training/experience. Chartered status with a recognised professional body. MBA an advantage.
  • Desirable: Degree in Electronic/Control Engineering. Formal commercial and business training.
  • Essential: 5 years project management experience, including large projects and contracts.
  • 10 years in project related engineering role, ideally in the process control industry.
  • Proven commercial and contractual skills, utilised in direct client facing and Engineering contractor-facing role.
  • Good communication skills & team leadership
  • Initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to adapt swiftly to changing circumstances
  • Ability to quickly analyse a situation & make positive decisions or recommendations
  • Take a high degree of responsibility and work under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of automation control systems technologies
  • Knowledge of project management methods & support systems
  • Proven experience in Senior Project Manager or equivalent level.
