The Shell East Staff Investment Cooperative Society Ltd (COOPEAST) is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for immediate employment as General Manager.

***To be successful in the role, the candidate must be commercially and ethically aware, very resourceful, and must have good knowledge of; accounting principles and practices, business and public administration, personnel management, corporate finance, business communication and reporting, time-management, data entry management, team-building, and customer service delivery.

Job Description:
Developing business plans, budgets and strategies for consideration, review and approval by the Management Committee (MC).
Aligning the Operations of the Cooperative with the Strategic directions as approved and/or laid out by the Management Committee.
Create, Drive and embed a strong Customer centric culture in the Cooperative aimed at giving the Esteemed members the best positive customer experience at all times.
Create and sustain a culture of innovation and excellence, underpinned by and expressing the values and philosophy of the Cooperative.
Ensuring that the Management Committee (MC) is provided with sufficient and accurate information on a timely basis in regard to the Cooperative’s operations and prospects, corporate performance including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance so as to reasonably position the MC to fulfil its governance responsibilities.
Identifying and managing operational and business risks for the Cooperative and its projects and, where those risks could have a material impact on the Cooperative, formulating strategies for managing and mitigating those risks, presenting same for consideration, review and endorsement by the Management Committee.
Implementing Ethical policies, processes and codes of conduct of the Cooperative and facilitating the monitoring, reviewing, and reporting of same. With respect to overall integrity, the GM shall at all times conduct himself/herself in a manner consistent with the code of conduct/values of the Cooperative and shall always strive to protect and promote the image and interest of the Cooperative.
Managing the society’s operations to ensure the achievement of business goals and operational efficiency.
Responsible for the planning and efficient allocation of resources as well as organizing and coordinating the operations and business of the Cooperative in ways that ensure maximum productivity.
Supervising the work of employees and providing feedback and counsel to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Responsible for maintaining good and ethical business relationships with CoopEast members, partners, vendors, and other stakeholders for the benefit of the society.
Responsible for planning and leading the execution of strategic campaigns and initiatives to promote the business and corporate image of CoopEast.
Maintaining accounting controls and financial information security, and making professional inputs to the formulation of policies and procedures.
Responsible for preparing reports, facilitating, and attending management meetings.
Complying with relevant regulatory requirements by studying existing and new legislations, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising the management committee on appropriate actions.
Maintaining customer confidence and protecting the Cooperative by keeping financial information confidential and strengthening internal controls.
Ensuring that all business transactions meet ethical and regulatory requirements.
Managing the organization’s corporate communication including financial reporting and interfacing with auditors to provide audited financial reports within agreed timelines.

Requirements:
· 15 years post qualification cognate working experience in the Finance industry or reputable Cooperative Society, 5 of which must have been at Managerial level.
· Excellent and demonstrable Customer Relations capability.
· Proficiency in dealing with figures, complex modelling and analysis, as well as in-depth knowledge of financial systems and procedures.
· Good understanding of supply and procurement laws and regulations.
· Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software.
· In-depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures.
· Good knowledge of accounting regulations.
· Excellent mathematics skills with good capacity to pay attention to detail.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and managerial skills.
· BSc degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Business Management Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· Masters degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or other finance and business related fields.
· Membership of reputable Professional association in Accounting and Finance such as ICAN,ACCA, Stockbrokerage, Banking etc.
