Job Position:
Health & Safety Officer


Location: Sagamu


Responsibilities:
• Conduct daily and weekly safety talks with workshop staff
• Conduct daily routine walk-abouts in the workshop to identify hazards, unsafe acts, non- compliance to workshop safety rules and regulations
• Conduct safety induction training for customers and visitors
• Investigate the root cause of HSE complaints put forward by staff members, customers, clients and contractors and report the result to the HSE Supervisor.
• Follows up to ensure that corrective actions are implemented where necessary and ensures that any certification requirements are complied with audit work being performed with ‘Safe Work Permit’
• Assist with the implementation of Job Safety Analysis and inspect job site activities particularly during difficult or hazardous work situations
• Coordinate and participate in the investigation of accidents and near misses whenever required
• Review and analyse accidents and near-miss incidents and making corrective action and recommendations
• Ensure participation in regular emergency response exercises and drills that are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency.
• Assist in developing and implementing field location emergency response procedures and evacuation plans
• Report to the Safety Inspector supervisor and provide weekly reports and documentations of activities as required
• Support and monitor HSE improvement proposals stating: the non-conformance, proposed corrective action, required resources for corrective action and plan of implementation
• Record and report all incidents/accidents and keep track of workshop LTI’s


Qualification and Requirement
• BSc/HND from any discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in similar role
• HSE level 1 to 3
• NEBOSH IGC (Added advantage)
• Experience in transport/haulage industry is a plus.
• Standing and walking for extended hours; physical fitness is key
