Webmaster/Designer Urgently Needed

Primary responsibilities

• Create design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content, for various websites .
• Ensure that the layout of the content is accessible and logical; recommend improvements if necessary.
• Create visual concepts that match the content and the image wanted by the clients but that fit in the clients global image; ensure that sites are easy to navigate.
• Build websites using technologies that conform to international standards and make sure that they are universally accessible.
• Perform maintenance and updates to existing websites when requested by clients.
• Provide training on maintenance and update procedures to clients who choose to take charge of their own websites.
• Configuration, maintenance, security, and support of Web servers.
o He/she monitors site traffic and helps scale server capacity to meet traffic demands and optimize performance.
o Responsible for installing and configuring web servers, managing day-to-day operations of web site, establishing site maintenance procedures, security, performing traffic analysis, generating site reports, and responding to visitor inquiries.
o Supports developers in the development, testing, and maintenance of web-based programs and client-side scripts.
o Performs all web server configuration tasks, maintains access control lists, and manages server logs.
o Generates traffic analysis reports and site integrity checks.
• Works with web developers to identify and correct any errors in site content or programming. Lends expertise to support internet-based applications.
• Answers webmaster email, forwards non-site-related inquiries to the appropriate staff, and tracks the volume and nature of the webmaster mail.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Contribute to the overall development of the technical group and of the company

Requirements

Standard
• Bachelors Degree/HND plus at least one year of experience in web design
• Advanced knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS, and of digital imaging and illustration with Adobe Photoshop.
• Knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, PHP and dynamic HTML; experience with Macromedia Flash.
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
• Very good spoken and written English (level 5) in order to design prototypes and train clients
• Attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem-solving.
• Ability to work in a team and to communicate in a clear way
• Formal training in desktop publishing applications, and photography are a plus
• Superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques, a strong online portfolio displaying user-centred design, and experience with web database solutions definite assets.
