Topic: MCSE/MCITP: Administration on Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 Server

It’s obvious that as an intending Administrator, your first feel of the Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) will be by opening the Active Directory users and Computers, which I often refer to as ADUC. What will you do when you open ADUC? You have to create account for users, computers, and group objects within the Organizational Units of a Domain. This is fundamental to your job requirement of an IT Professional, especially in an Active Directory environment.

What will be the focus of this class?

Learning how to Work with Active Directory

1. Using The Microsoft Management Console (MMC): Understanding the difference between the Preconfigured and the Customized MMC

The Administration Tools such as,
Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS): This manages replication, network topology as well as other related services.

2. Creating AD Objects
More than anything else, you’ll learn the step by step process of creating Active Directory Objects, like OU, Groups, Users and Computers in Active Directory.

3. Finding Objects in Active Directory
Really, of what use is the object that we create, when we can’t locate it in the directory whenever we need it? This is the essence of this section. We’ll use Saved Queries, and the Find Command Line utilities, mostly the DS Commands. For example, DSQuery.

4. Delegation and Security of AD Objects
We’ll see how to delegate administrative control to other Administrators or organisation in our domain. We’ll also delve into the Access Control List of our Active Directory Objects.
