@Chairman1, @dewise       @kalistus      @Impish.
Thank God, you have arrived. I wish u all d best in Uk. I believe you are petroleum engr or have coleagues who are pet. engrs. I would like to have d solution to this directional drilling problem, which i stumbled upon in one PTDF question. Given: kick off depth 300ft, target depth 8000ft, target drift 2000ft and build up rate 2degrees/100ft. Calc the along hole depth. I checked Advanced Driling Engr textbook, SPE series, but couldn't find d soln. Anyone with an idea plz post.

@dewise, I heard that scholars are applying for their travelling tickets and the first batch of scholars, i.e those going to the University of Dundee are leaving this weekend. A friend of mine called PTDF and they said if there is anything, they will let us know so we are keeping our fingers crossed.

Hi all,
I should say a big thank you to all the past years" scholars and everyone who has contributed to this forum over the past few months or sud i say year!Lol

Well i am one of this years scholars and i'd just like to know how you guys have been doing after your m.sc. in the "prestigioud " UK universities. Do PTDF scholars haev to return home immediately and how long is the typical student visa for m.sc. in England? U can also share any info that you feeel will allow us settle down quickly in the Uk
Lastly i noticed that some of the notices given by the PTDF are quite short (maybe that is unavoidably so) like they can tell you to appear in their office tomoro at 8am. Lol. Do they communicate travel dates well ahead or should i expect their call one day to go!?

To all my fellow 2009/2010 scholars, congrats one more time. But then this is just the begining...May God see us all thru to the end.

I heard PTDF placed a notice in The News yesterday, asking us to check the website for an urgent info. I checked but found nothing. Anybody with info on what it is all about?

I've also heard about this "announcement" on the news from several reliable sources but I've been unable to find anything new on their site. For an organization with PTDF's resources, that website is very poorly maintained. Any information from someone who knows what this is about will be appreciated.

We've gone back to the way things were before the induction when we were completely left in the dark, led around in circles between Univation and PTDF, and could only hope that everything was going well. Then it became clear during the induction that a complete mess was made of our applications which we could have handled better ourselves.

@darkmatter,
It is the same issue here! The news is all over and there is nothing of interest on the website. The only thing I saw was a questionaire on one impact assessment which is even meant for older beneficiaries to fill. I wonder, will that be what all the announcement over the radio and t.v be all about? God help PTDF information/communication system!

Guyz,

I'll be leaving in a couple of days. I'm so excited and happy. I cant wait at all. Life is truly beautiful. I thank God for everything O! For those that'll apply this year, I wish you all the best.

I want to carry some food stuffs like Beans, Egusi & Ijebu Garri( this one is so dear to me). I hear I might have to pay huge fees at Customs. Please, could someone help me with the charges if at all they'll allow me pass with these items. I'd be really grateful.

To my fellow scholars, lets make the best out of this wonderful opportunity. God who has brought us this far, will take us even higher than we could ever imagine. All the best.

There's a PDF guide online (280Kb) detailing what you can and can't bring into the UK and what needs to be declared on entry: http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/downloadFile?contentID=HMCE_CL_001734

Essentially, no pirated software, CDs or other copyrighted or indecent material. No counterfeit designer goods, offensive weapons or live animals.

Some people may be happy to know that they can bring up to 16 litres of beer.

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
